The goals of this program are to strengthen STEM learning and motivation and to promote engineering by:

The UNH-based Research Experiences for Teachers in Engineering (RETE), offered to teachers throughout northern New England, is supported by the National Science Foundation's Research to Inspire Students in Engineering (RISE) program.

In the UNH RETE program, ten in-service and five pre-service teachers participate in a seven-week experience (1 week of orientation, 5 weeks of intensive research experience, and 1 week of curriculum development with a UNH engineering faculty mentor and their research team). Teachers participate in selected research groups. They develop independent research projects guided by the faculty mentors and graduate students in the laboratories. The summer experience includes a twice-a-week brown bag lunch series with teacher-leaders to presenting their work. School year follow-up to support the integration of the summer research experience and inquiry-based activities within the curriculum will also be provided, both in person and through an electronic discussion board.
